Flexible Spending Accounts

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA’s) allow an employee the opportunity to put some of his/her money aside before taxes to pay for many out-of-pocket medical expenses and dependent child care.

Use-It-Or-Lose-It refers to an IRS requirement. If you do not spend all of the money you elected, it will be forfeited because it can not be rolled over or refunded to you. Any money you elect to set aside in a FSA for a given benefit plan year may only be used for eligible expenses you incur for services received during the benefit period. So it is very important that you plan carefully when deciding how much to allot for your Flexible Spending Accounts.

The benefit period for Breckenridge ISD is September 1, 2010 - August 31, 2011.
